Aaliyah

Fadia: What’s your name?

Aaliyah: Aaliyah.

Fadia: Now tell me about where you live and your school.

Aaliyah: I live near heaps of friends. I live near, mostly where my friends go to school. My school is built near me. I live straight across the bridge from my school. I am in Year 2 and I have heaps of people to play with at lunch and recess. We have toy time, we do lots of hard work but the year wants to mostly do easier ones, stencils. The Year 2s do harder stencils and we have hard spelling words.

Fadia: Tell me about where you play at home in Minto.

Aaliyah: In Minto we play near the bridge because I live right next door to the bridge. My friend next door — we play bikes. We ride them up and down and when we play I always beat them.

Fadia: Where do you ride your bike around to?

Aaliyah: I ride my bike around where I live. I don’t go past anywhere where I live. I always stay where I can see my house.

Fadia: And what is you house next to?

Aaliyah: My house in Minto is next to the bridge.

Fadia: And are you going to miss Minto?

Aaliyah: I am goin’ to miss Minto if we move somewhere else.

Fadia: Why?

Aaliyah: Because Minto I grew up in.

Fadia: And how old are you?

Aaliyah: I am seven.
