Felicity Masima
Minto is the place I'd rather be

I was really disappointed because I’d come back down to Campbelltown from Manly, a really nice area, and I wasn’t comfortable with the move because I really hated Minto so bad. I had the meanest thoughts about the place, but I stayed. It took me a week to fall in love with Minto. l just absolutely love Minto more than I love Macquarie Fields, that’s where I’m from, so that’s a huge step.

Darren [Matahau] made me change. I got to meet all his friends and just hang out with them and then I stayed living with him for two months and then I had to go back home. I almost cried because that’s how much I fell in love with Minto, I was so hooked.

It’s okay being from Manly but you don’t usually get, “Hello!” and “Good mornings!” and ‘”What’s going on?” Being from Minto, as soon as you wake up someone’s bound to call you and say, “Good morning! What are you doing today?” The people here are beautiful, they’re outgoing, they talk a lot. They’ve always got stories to tell you and they’re real stories, true stories.

I don’t know why they’re trying to make it like a high class kind of place because I think that originally Minto is how it is because of the people. You appreciate the people, you appreciate the cultures, even when there’s a whole heap of them. Minto is the place I’d rather be.
